Social Media

I reflect on my social media journey from Facebook, via Instagram, Twitter to LinkedIn, and my eventual retreat from these platforms. I share my vision for a more personal and less intrusive social media experience, and how I find value in platforms like Mastodon and my personal blog.

April Was Quiet

Based on the number of posts, April was a quiet month. But honestly, I don’t believe myself that this is true, so let’s try to tear the April apart and see what happened!

  • I’m back in the saddle, both gravel and MTB bike were ridden a few times this month! A little bit over 100km in total, but it’s a start!
  • I watched some cycling in TV, kept my fingers crossed for Pogacar, he managed to win Ronde van Vlaanderen, Amstel Gold Race and La Flèche Wallonne. It was a pity he had to pull out of Liège-Bastogne-Liège due to a crash and broken wrist. It’s really cool to watch the final kilometers of the race in TV with children, they are really excited about it:)
  • Changed the tires in the car, and a few days later one of the tires got puctured, we didn’t react on time and it got damaged, had to buy another one 🙃
  • Juve has one of the worst seasons in the last 10 years, sometimes it’s really hard to watch them play. Still… Fino alla fine!
  • We spent one day with alpacas on the farm nearby, it was a great experience for the whole family!
  • During one of the weekends, when I was with the boys alone, we had an idea of using ChatGPT and Midjourney to create a story. It was a lot of fun, and I can recommend it to everyone who has kids and wants to spend some time with them in a creative way!
  • By the way, at work we’ve done a workshop for our People team and presented them how to leverage the power of generative AI in their daily work. 3 main insights from the workshop:
    • I enjoy such events with people!
    • We’re in exremely interesting times and it feels great to be a part of it!
    • Legal and compliance stuff around this topic will be (and already is) a mess.
  • I’ve bought a drone, even though I resisted for years. It’s cool to fly it, it gives me a lot of fun! I have to add few things to my todolist right now:
    • learn how to fly it properly
    • make sure I know how to store the raw footage in a clever way
    • become a video editing master
    • learn what’s LUT and color grading
    • learn how to use DaVinci Resolve (or maybe something else?)
    • empty my photos backlog from last year to make some space for the new stuff
  • There was at least one pretty sunset, totally #nofilterneeded
  • We planned to do a family holiday between April/May this year, we even managed to go to Budapest (here’s a “cyk” from that trip), unfortunately some viruses or other stuff broke our plans and got back home. Before I felt asleep, I had a reflection that… here is everyone and everything I need, especially during warmer months, we can enjoy our place even more:)

February Summary

Another month has passed and it’s time to summarize it.

  1. We had a little holiday in Kraków with the family. Hard to call it a regeneration but still, it was nice to spend some time together. We had a nice whether, including -10°C during the day. Highlights: Wieliczka, Wawel, Muzeum Iluzji, Pałac Krzysztofory, Wesoła Cafe, AleKlocki.
  2. During the Kraków visit, I had a chance to experience the BMW 3 series for the first time in the 370+HP version and explore the city with my guide D. - thanks a lot for the opportunity! It was great! The most important insight for me was that I don’t really need a full M version of the car, the one I tested is more than enough!
  3. I spent a lot of time digging through BMW configurator, it seems that cars still make an impression on me.
  4. February was not impressive in terms of bike trips, just 3 of them. I hope that my issues with the tires are gone and I won’t have to spend most of the ride pumping them up.
  5. February marks my 4th month in a row when I closed all the activity rings on my Apple Watch!
  6. At work things were good but INTENSIVE, the highlight was a workshop we had in a bigger group in Poznań! First of all we closed some important topic, but there was also a lot of fun and a lot of learning! I also started in a new role – exciting things ahead of us!
  7. I had my first experience as a host with Disruption Talks format, it was fun!
  8. FlexiSpot surprised me when I reached out to them and they agreed to send me a new desk top for free (I had a small issue with the previous one).
  9. Something triggered me to improve my backup game. I decided to leverage the power of my Synology and backup all the photos from all the phones at home to Synology (even though I use the big iCloud package). Just in case. Apart from that, I did some changes to running Docker containers on NAS and I’m using it more and more for things other than just a file storage.
  10. I’m glad that my home is running almost entirely on Apple devices, just a few things left for migration. Not that I don’t like other brands, but it’s easier to have everything in one ecosystem.
  11. Health is good!
  12. I felt urge to learn CSS from scratch, hopefully I will find some time for it.
  13. I wrote 5 posts on my blog! That’s more than in 3 last years combined!

Where am I 2023?

After the events in Twitter back in 2022, I decided to rethink a bit my visibility there and other social media. Somehow, I ended up with a pretty old-school conclusion.
